Except for her smile. It comes easy and is more than a bit cheesy.

Its sincerity could melt the grinchiest Grinch’s heart.

It’s how she meets the everyday challenges she confronts every day.

She’s walking now but stairs remain a mystery yet to be solved.

She wakes most mornings singing and goes to bed most nights chattering yet nary a word, not even ‘mom’.

Everything is harder for the little girl.

When her doctors, therapists and nannies poke, prod and push her to her physical limits, she rarely complains, and perhaps with the wisdom of an old soul, she knows they are trying to help her.

Everything is harder for the little girl.

She is over three now and developing opinions, understands more, ignores what she chooses, and is having a toddlers difficulty with the concept of ‘no’.

Everything is harder for the little girl.

Her pleading eyes flash a determination to simply do the normal things. You cheer every achievement no matter how seemingly insignificant because it isn’t for her.

Everything is harder for the little girl.

Why her? Why us? Why does it matter? She keeps coming. She’s got game. She has grit. And it’s contagious. Whatever it takes, we will make everything easier for the little girl.
